Aruba geography sets the island as a part of the West Indies in the Caribbean Sea which lies about twelve degrees notrth of the equator about twenty nine kilometers off the Paranguaná Peninsula of Venezuela. Aruba is also about thirty kilometers long and about eight kilometers wide having an area of one hundred ninety three square kilometers. The island’s capital is Oranjestad named after the Dutch House of Orange, and the population of the island is about eighty-nine thousand.

Being a member of the Netherlands Antilles which has a hereditary constitutional monarchy, Aruba’s governor is appointed by the Queen of the Kingdom. He does not exactly wear the royalty wardrobe consisting of a cape and a crown, but he does act as the sovereign’s representative on the island. The governor has a term of six years from the date of appointment.
